Tax Freedom
The Keystone of Liberty:
- Property Tax: Asserting True Ownership: True ownership implies absolute control. Property taxes, however, undermine this principle by making property owners subject to government intervention. We advocate for the abolition of property taxes to ensure individuals can fully own their properties without government interference.
- Corporate and Business Tax: Removing Burdensome Overhead: Corporate and business taxes often shift burdens onto consumers, workers, executives, and shareholders through higher prices and lower returns. Eliminating these taxes alleviates this burden, fostering a fairer economic environment and empowering individuals throughout society.
- State Income Tax: Fueling Economic Growth: States like Tennessee have thrived after eliminating state income taxes, attracting businesses, and driving economic prosperity. We propose that The United States follow this example, unlocking its potential for growth and development.
- Uniform Consumption Tax: Empowering Fiscal Independence: Implementing a Total End-User Consumption Tax across The United States empowers individuals by allowing them to control their tax liabilities through consumption choices. This shift towards self-sufficiency reduces dependence on federal funding and enables the state to finance its own social needs.
Regulatory Overreach
- Fundamental Rights and Liberties: Essential activities, such as driving, practicing a profession, or running a business, are fundamental rights. Licensing these activities can transform them from inherent rights into privileges that can be granted or revoked by the government encroaching on personal freedom and autonomy.
- Self-Determination and Responsibility: Individuals should have the freedom to determine their paths without undue governmental interference. This includes the ability to pursue careers, hobbies, and other activities independently. People should be responsible for their actions without needing external permission.
- Bureaucratic and Financial Barriers: Licensing often introduces bureaucratic processes and financial costs that can serve as obstacles, particularly for those with fewer resources. These barriers can limit economic opportunities and personal growth, disproportionately affecting disadvantaged individuals and perpetuating inequality.
- Innovation and Progress: Licensing can hinder innovation by imposing rigid standards that may not keep pace with new ideas and technologies. Without licensing, individuals and businesses would be more inclined to take risks and explore innovative approaches, promoting creativity and entrepreneurship.
- Market Regulation and Accountability: In the absence of licensing the market can regulate itself through mechanisms such as reputation, reviews, and consumer choice. Professionals and businesses would be directly accountable to their clients and customers, with poor performance leading to a loss of business and reputation, naturally incentivizing high standards and ethical behavior.
- Historical and Philosophical Perspective: Historically, many professions and activities functioned effectively without licensing. Philosophically, requiring licenses can be viewed as a paternalistic approach that undermines individual liberty by treating adults as if they need state supervise
- Consistency in Rights: If some rights, such as freedom of speech and religion, are considered fundamental and unrestricted, it is inconsistent to impose licensing requirements on other activities. A uniform approach to fundamental rights would recognize all such activities as inherent to individual liberty, free from government approval.
